Business for Builders ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, how we use it, and your rights under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

What we collect
When you complete the enquiry form or the franchise quiz on this site, we collect your name, email address and phone number; your region; whether you are a Licensed Building Practitioner (LBP); any message you choose to send us; and your answers to the franchise quiz (information about your building experience and business goals). We do not ask for, and you should not send us, sensitive information such as financial account details through these forms.
How we use your information
We use the information you give us to respond to your enquiry and get in touch with you, assess whether a Smith & Sons franchise is a good fit for you, talk to you about the franchise opportunity in your region, and improve our website and communications. We will only use your information for the purpose you provided it, or for a directly related purpose you would reasonably expect.
Who we share it with
Your information is seen by the Business for Builders and Smith & Sons New Zealand team, and by SME Growth, the marketing agency that manages our advertising and enquiries on our behalf. Everyone who handles your information is required to keep it confidential. We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to anyone.
Cookies and advertising

How we store and protect your information
Enquiries and quiz results are delivered to us by email and stored in our email and customer systems. We take reasonable steps to keep your information safe from loss, misuse and unauthorised access. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we work to protect your information at all times.
How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as we need it to deal with your enquiry and our franchise relationship, and for as long as required by law. When it is no longer needed, we securely delete or de-identify it.
Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to ask us what personal information we hold about you, and to correct any information that is wrong.
